Elimination and the ideal bowel movement is not a subject often talked about but we think it should be!
You may be surprised to learn that we should be eliminating up to as much as four times per day. This means that for every meal you eat, you should be having a bowel movement about an hour after eating. Incidentally, your most recent meal is not the meal that's being eliminated. We all have our rhythm which means that our bowel movements are not necessarily going to be the same, so even if you have just one soft bowel movement a day, what is important is that it feels as though you have eliminated well and that after you've eliminated you have an almost empty feeling and your abdomen should be flat as opposed to bloated.
You should be able to eliminate in less than two minutes, without having to strain. Every bowel movement should be soft and mushy and slightly gaseous so that it should crumble and break up on the toilet's surface. Anything harder, dryer or more formed than this and you are constipated.
A healthy bowel movement should be the colour of wild honey and should smell of the food you have been eating.
A properly functioning digestive system means better food assimilation and it also increases vitality and allows better absorption of nutrients.
Here's to healthy elimination!
